Dirty Hands NY is a multimedia website that focuses on quirky and creative do-it-yourself New Yorkers, documenting how and why they go it alone, covering everything from brewing their own beer to sewing their own, and preparing their own legal documents to binding their own books.  Whether it be for holistic, economic, craftiness, or entertainment reasons, more and more people are coming back to their homes to do things that they could hire others to do.

Fifty years ago fixing a button, baking a cake, or growing your own vegetables in a garden was the norm. But since then people have gotten used to hiring someone to take care of these tasks for them. Now, with the DIY movement gaining steam as well as the effects of a national recession hitting our wallets, New Yorkers are reversing that trend and bringing it back to the home.
