Biggie and Jay-Z…Say these names to anyone who follows hip hop and almost always, eyes light up and a signature verse made famous by these bigwigs in the rap game is recited.
But for Brooklynites, hearing names like these make it even special since Brooklyn, New York is where many rappers, including Biggie and Jay-Z, were born.
Although rap, which falls under the musical genre of hip hop and was started in the Bronx in the 1970s, also gave birth to new artists throughout the world, Brooklyn still continues to be one of the biggest places of origin for these artists, like Daniel “Ones” Moore.
This 30-year-old has been writing music since 1994 and has been putting his lyrics to music since 2006. Like so many others like him, he credits Biggie for being one of his influences.
“Biggie showed me that it was possible to put all those attributes together to make an ‘imperfect M.C.,” he says. “Biggie Smalls is the best ever in my opinion.”
“Ones” enjoys making music that can suit anybody who chooses to listen and says he just wants to be ” heard and respected by the masses as a well rounded lyricist!”
Here’s a sample of “Ones” talent…
